Overview
Verb Education partnered with CADENA International Development Projects and Murishi Ltd to deliver the Nuffic Orange Knowledge Programme to support TVET institutions in Kenya by developing climate-smart and water-smart agriculture training programs. The aim was to equip students with practical, sustainable agricultural skills using ICT-enhanced training methodologies.

Technical Undertaking
The technical aspects of the study included:

  • Industry Partnerships: Verb Education developed an information system that fostered partnerships between TVET institutions and the agricultural industry, ensuring the training programs aligned with industry needs.
  • Digital Platforms: Verb designed and implemented an online learning platform to deliver climate-smart agricultural content to students in rural and urban areas. The platform supported multimedia content, real-time feedback, and interactive modules to enhance learning.
  • Coaching & Mentorship: The platform also facilitated industry-based coaching, allowing trainees to interact with industry professionals for real-world insights and guidance.

Partnerships
Verb Education collaborated with Nuffic, TVET institutions, and key stakeholders from Kenya’s agriculture industry. These partnerships ensured the relevance of the training programs and created strong linkages between education and industry.

Outcome
The project successfully introduced ICT-enhanced agriculture training programs that addressed both local environmental challenges and broader sustainability goals. The platform allowed for flexible learning, making the program accessible to students in remote areas and increasing the potential for upscaling across other sectors.
